DuPont shift schedule implemented as a verifiable matrix

This implementation uses a 28-day, four-crew matrix with 12-hour Day and Night shifts. Names and anchor dates vary between organizations, so compare every phase with your approved source schedule.

How this implementation behaves

The four phases are offset so one crew covers each Day and Night slot. A phase includes four-shift and three-shift work blocks plus short and long breaks; the 28-day matrix, not the name alone, defines this version.

Work and recovery blocks in this version

In displayed phase 1, this site implements four Nights, three Off days, three Days, one Off day, three Nights, three Off days, four Days, and seven Off days. The other phases offset that same coverage system so one crew occupies each required Day and Night slot.

Align the DuPont phase before adding names

The anchor date is cycle day 1 for all four displayed phases. Map each real crew to the phase it actually follows on one known service date. A one-day anchor error shifts every Day, Night, and Off assignment in the generated horizon.

Common DuPont setup errors

  • Relying on the DuPont label alone even though workplaces can use different phase names, starting positions, or local variants.
  • Assuming displayed phase 1 automatically means the workplace's Crew A without checking a known date.
  • Changing Day or Night endpoints without reviewing real coverage gaps, overlaps, rest, and daylight-saving warnings.

Verify these items before operational use

  1. Align cycle day 1 with a known date from an approved source schedule; a wrong anchor shifts every assignment.
  2. Confirm that each real crew maps to the intended phase instead of assuming the displayed phase order matches local labels.
  3. Confirm the local Day and Night endpoints. Changing them can create real gaps, overlaps, or daylight-saving duration warnings.
  4. Review member exceptions, minimum rest, staffing targets, qualifications, leave, agreements, and local rules outside this template.

This matrix is the site's versioned DuPont implementation. Automated checks verify its 28-day length, four crew phases, and one Day plus one Night crew per service date. It has not been externally reviewed or validated against your workplace roster.
